"Pony Kid"

My name is Julia Rose Ecklord, and my hometown is Gales Ferry, CT and I am 10 years old.

My pony’s name is Flutterby.

My trainer’s name is Marissa Sylvester.

Of all the ponies I have ridden, Flutterby is my favorite.  The two of us really know each other and work great together.

If I am not riding Flutterby, I would like to ride CoCo Puff because he is really cute.

I first got into riding when I went on a pony ride when I was about 3 at the Staten Island Zoo.  After that I knew I wanted to ride.

My favorite horse show is the Mystic Valley Summer Festival.  It was my first really big show and it was fun hanging out with all my friends there.

I have 2 high points in my riding career so far.  The first was qualifying for the CHSA Finals, and the second was winning my first Blue Ribbon in Walk Trot Equitation and Champion Ribbon in Walk Trot Equitation.  By winning those two classes, I won the Mystic Valley Silver HorseShoe award for Walk Trot Equitation.

The low point in my career was the first time I fell off of Flutterby.  I was scared at first, but Flutterby stayed right next to me so I could get back up on her.

My Equestrian Idol is my trainer Marissa.  I have really learned a lot about riding from her.  She also teaches me how to take care of Flutterby and how to be a good owner.

Other than riding I like to play with my friends, go bowling and roller skate. My plans for the future are to continue riding Flutterby and learn all I can about horses.  Someday I want to be a teacher and maybe a horse trainer.
